2010 End of Summer Classic Tournament - Flint

Port Huron Athletics Tournament Runner Up

The Port Huron Athletics, won six straight games during the Flint Michigan 18U tournament, suffering their lone defeat in the championship game to the Michigan Dawgs.

 

 
June 28, 2010

The Port Huron Athletics defeated the Saint Clair Shores Mariners Blue 10 - 2 at Port Huron High School.  Nick Cristofori had three hits with a triple, double, single and an RBI.  Drew Bringard also had a triple, a single and an RBI.  Contributing one hit each was Bryce Gordon (2B) and a stolen base, Seth Heinbuck (2B), Tommy Marginet (1B) a stolen base and an RBI, and Stephen Rumsey (1B) with a stolen base and an RBI.  Tyler Anglebrandt and Evan Lyszczyk each contributed an RBI and Kyle VanBuskirk a stolen base.  Tyler Anglebrandt earned the game win with six strikeouts and Drew Bringard closed with two strikeouts.

The Port Huron Athletics defeated the Saint Clair Shores Mariners Blue in a previous Double Header contest on June 21st at Kyte Monroe Park (17 - 7) and (14 - 4).  Seth Heinbuck hit a grand slam in the first contest and a total 21 additional hits in the two games were contributed by Nick Cristofori, Bryce Gordon, Drew Bringard, Kyle Hug, Evan Lyszczyk, Stephen Rumsey and Travis Sparr.
 

 

2009 CABA/Nations State Tournament

 

The Port Huron Athletics defeated the METRO Stars in the first game of the tournament with a score of 7-5.  Bryce Gordon contributed by going two for two and 2 RBIs.  Tyler Anglebrandt hurled all six innings. 

 

 

The second game was a mercy contest with the Macomb Seniors, the A's on top of a 13 - 5 score.  Tyler Anglebrandt was two for two with 2 RBIs, Bryce Gordon went two for three with 2 RBIs and Seth Heinbuck also contributed 2 RBIs.  Kyle Grace pitched three innings with Aaron Bachler hurling five strike outs to close out the final two innings.

 

The third game was a close contest with the A's taking the 8 - 7 victory.  Seth Heinbuck doubled to bring in Codee Sutton in the final inning.  Travis Sparr hurled 3 innings, Tyler Fitzgerald took over in the fourth and Andrew Bringard closed the game. 

 

 

June 8, 2009

 

The Port Huron Athletics 16U team fell to the Macomb Inferno 18U team on Monday afternoon at Port Huron High.  The final score was Inferno 5 and A's 4 in nine innings. 

 

The A's got a stellar pitching performance from Tyler Anglebrandt, who held the Inferno to two runs in seven innings.  Travis Sparr closed the game.

 

The Inferno pushed three runs across in the eighth to gain the victory.  The A's were led by Seth Heinbuck who went two for three (2B), with Kyle Hug (2B), Tommy Marginet and Stephen Rumsey each adding one hit.

2009 Battle at the Capital Tournament

 

MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

The Port Huron Athletics opened the tournament by defeating the Michigan Elite 4 to 3 at Michigan State University.  Drew Bringard doubled and had 2 RBIs, Aaron Bachler, Tyler FItzgerald and Kyle Hug also added a base hit.  Tyler Anglebrandt started at the stadium game and had four strikeouts.

 

The Athletics won their second game 8 - 4 against the Walled Lake Cougars at Lansing Eastern High School.  Nick Cristofori led the A's with a double and single.  Drew Bringard doubled, added an RBI and Tyler FItzgerald doubled.  Kyle Hug also smacked two singles with two stolen bases.  Aaron Bachler had a single and an RBI, Seth Heinbuck also added a single and Detrik Diggins an RBI.  Kyle Grace pitched six innings with three strikeouts and Drew Bringard finished the game.

 

The Athletics fell to the Kenosha Bobcats 11 - 8 at Lansing Eastern High School.  In the loss, Bryce Gordon had a double with an RBI and Nick Cristofori doubled.  Tommy Marginet and Codee Sutton both pitched in with a base hit, an RBI and a stolen base.  Seth Heinbuck had a base hit and a stolen base.  Kyle Hug, Tyler Anglebrandt and Luke Borkovich each contributed a hit while Stephen Rumsey had three RBIs.  Jon Beltowski was the starting pitcher and Aaron Bachler came in relief throwing three strikeouts.

 

The Athletics mercied the Metro Stars 11 -1 at Okemos High School.  Drew Bringard hammered a grand slam home run earning 4 RBIs.  Tommy Marginet had two singles, an RBI and a stolen base.  Luke Borkovich had a base hit with an RBI and Stephen Rumsey had a base hit and a stolen base.  Tyler Anglebrandt, Nicholas Cristofori, Seth Heinbuck and Codee Sutton each contributed a single.  Drew Bringard hurled the entire game with four strike outs.

 

The exciting and deciding game for semi-final action was played against the Ontario Nationals with the Athletics winning 14 - 8 at Lansing Sexton High School.  Tyler Anglebrandt led in hits with a triple and two base hits.  Kyle Hug also pounded out a triple, a base hit and an RBI.  Drew Bringard hit a double with a stolen base and Stephen Rumsey hit two singles with three RBIs.  Luke Borkovich, Nicholas Cristofori and Codee Sutton each had a base hit with an RBI and Tommy Marginet had a base hit with a stolen base.  Tyler Anglebrandt hurled just over five innings and Drew Bringard closed the game getting three strikeouts.

 

The Port Huron Athletics fell in the semi-finals to the Michigan Blue Jays at Eaton Rapids High School.  Stephen Rumsey had a base hit, an RBI and a stolen base.  Tyler FItzgerald started the game and Kyle Grace closed.  The Athletics finished third out of a tough field of twenty-four.
